It's not known if he's one particular individual out of a whole class of big, fat, dual-wielding, tattooed, [[demon]]s, or if he's a special, one-of-a-kind demon. He's not an [[act boss]] or a major [[quest boss]] though, that much was made clear in the panels at the WWI event.

The demon is summoned (as is described below), and sets to attack the player. Once he's ready to rumble, Thousand Pounder moves slowly, but with tremendous power, and deals heavy damage with his two large maces. When he smacks his two maces together, you don't want to be standing in the impact zone. In the gameplay movie, a [[Barbarian]] avoids damage by jumping around the beast with [[Leap Attack]] and uses [[Furious Charge]] to smash through the fatty monster. Other classes will likely be able to have some sort of similar mobility skills, like the [[Wizard]] skill [[Teleport]].

When his [[life]] drops below about 50%, he kicks into an enraged mode. At that point his tattoos begin to glow red and he moves much more quickly. He retains this rage until he is killed.

Thousand Pounder don't have any additional minions or other monsters to help him out, so if the player use an avoidance tactic, and tries to damage him with ranged attacks, or using skills to make him activating his slow attacks in the wrong direction, he should be relatively easy to kill. Just remember not to get hit by the maces, and you'll be fine!

===Summoning Ritual===
Thousand Pounder is summoned up in a scripted event. The [[Barbarian]] in the [[gameplay movie]] is running through the [[Forgotten Tombs]], when he comes upon a circle of five [[Dark Cultist]]s channelling their energy to call up a [[demon]]. At first there are three pale-skinned youths dancing in the circle. They explode one by one, and then from their blood and flesh the demon is conjured.

While the Barbarian watches, lights began to glow and the Thousand Pounder takes form. First his bones appear, then muscles, then skin over the top, until with a final explosion that sends the Cultists flying, Thousand Pounder bursts into life.

The title '[[Gluttony]] [[Incarnate]]' is a mystery. Comparing this big fella with the [[Siegebreaker Assault Beast]], he seems to have a 'title' that would work very much like Diablo 2 {{iw|Monster_Modifiers Monster Modifiers}}. Still, 'Gluttony Incarnate' could be his ''title'' just like the Siegebreaker's 'Living siege Engine of Hell' obviously must be. The [[Thousand Pounder]] could also very well be an equivalent of a Diablo II {{iw|Superunique Superunique}}, with a different name than other units that look the same (as the Thousand Pounder has been depicted to come in packs in concept art).

Other players have speculated that perhaps we'll see mini-bosses with names inspired by all [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins seven deadly sins]. It's purely speculation at this point, but it's as good a guess as any.

We only know of them thanks to this animated gif of a Fallen Shaman, which [[Blizzard]]'s D3 Community Manager, [[Bashiok]], had as his forum avatar. Fallen are also mentioned briefly in [[Writings_of_Abd_al-Hazir:_Entry_no._0017|The Writings of Abd Al Hazir]].

Fallen were in D1 and took on an expanded role with new AI, shamans who were capable of raising them from the dead, and grouping habits in D2 ({{iw|Fallen_Shaman Diablo 2 Fallen Shaman}}). How they'll progress in D3 remains to be seen, but everyone seems to like this monster type, so their return is a popular one.

In [[Diablo II]], Fallen could be resurrected by Fallen Shaman, and killing resurrected ones would not give experience. It's likely we'll see a similar system in Diablo 3. Both the [[Diablo I]] and Diablo II Fallen applied a "cowardly" AI, where if a player killed one, all others who "saw" this would run away for a short time period, making them annoying to hunt and kill, and slightly unpredictable when a big group would come back to fight.

Small and vicious, many worry that if these beings were to band together in large numbers, they might easily overthrow some of the smaller cities in the region. Luckily, cowardice appears to be one of the chief features of this species, and they quickly retreat at the sight of one of their brethren falling in battle. Although Fallen seek to congregate together, so far only small encampments have been found, with no obvious overall organization. While there are wild rumours of [[Fallen Shaman]] Priests leading camps of Fallen, supposedly with the power to raise them from the dead, this has yet to be substantiated. Carvers and Dark Ones, tougher cousins of the Fallen, have also been seen closer to the fringes of civilization, indicating that the [[Prime Evils|Brothers]]' sway may be stronger than previously understood.

It shows that they have a genuine culture, and the use of personalities (Fallen walk around and mutters the name of one of their three "demi-gods", {{iw|Bishibosh Bishibosh}}, {{iw|Rakanishu Rakanishu}} and {{iw|Colenzo_the_Annihilator Colenzo the Annihilator}}. Their casting abilities and resurrecting capabilities fit in well with the cowardly Fallen, and makes an encounter with these little demons a lot more interesting.

Fallen Shaman were a relatively challenging and popular monster in [[Diablo II]], and are most likely to appear in [[Diablo III]]. Regular [[Fallen]] have been around since [[Diablo I]] and the fact that [[Bashiok]]'s avatar is a Fallen Shaman can be taken as a sort of "confirmation". Obviously they have modelled the Fallen, so the chance that they would be excluded isn't very big.

The '''Nephalem''' were the first humans upon Sanctuary, created as a result of the union between [[Angels]] and [[Demons]]. The creation process is unknown, although it is for certain completely unlike human procreation.

Such a Celestial union granted the '''Nephalem''' great power. So great was their potential that the demon [[Lilith]] attempted to use their power to build an army. [[Inarius]] put an end to her malicious designs and used the [[Worldstone]] to diminish the power of the '''Nephalem'''. Such is the curse upon the '''Nephalem''' that each successive generation also loses power.

The '''Worldstone''' was created along with Sanctuary by the [[Archangel]] [[Inarius]] with the help of other [[Angels]] and [[Demons]]. After the creation of Sanctuary's first inhabitants, the [[Nephalem]], the '''Worldstone''' was used by Inarius to weaken them. So powerful was this curse upon the first humans that each successive generation became weaker, as well.

[[Soulstone]]s are thought to be fragments of the '''Worldstone''', but this speculation has yet to be proven or disproved with any certainty. Although it is known that [[Tyrael]] gave the soulstones to the [[Horadrim]], not even Horadric lore is able to recite their true origin.

==Destruction of the Worldstone==
The '''Worldstone''' was destroyed by [[Tyrael]] after the ultimate battle between [[Baal]] and the Heroes of Light. Baal had corrupted the '''Worldstone''' to his will, and it was decided by Tyrael that it had to be destroyed, lest the forces of Hell come flooding into the realm of [[Sanctuary]]. It is speculated that the next game in the series, [[Diablo III]], will explain the effects, if any, on Tyrael and Sanctuary for his drastic action.

Adding to the mystery of Tyrael's action is the concern and uncertainty of the inhabitants of [http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Harrogath Harrogath] after the destruction of the '''Worldstone'''. It is known in the Prophecy that the '''Worldstone''' would be corrupted, but [http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Anya Anya] goes as far as mentioning that the Prophecy ''never'' mentioned it being outright destroyed.

New Tristram is one of the towns in Diablo III. It's a wretched, rotting corpse of a town, grown up on the ruins of the old Tristram that blossomed during past ages, but has now fallen into decay.

[[WWI 2008: D3 Lore and Environmental Art Panel]] Q&A session revealed that New Tristram is the starting town of Diablo III.

:Q: Will we see how the cities have changed in the last 20 years?
:A: I can tell you that the game starts in new Tristram.
