'''Tyrael''' is an [[Archangel]] and a member of the Angiris Council, who defied heaven in order to teach the [[Horadrim]] how to seal the [[Prime Evils]]' souls into [[soulstone]]s, thereby trapping them for eternity. He was captured by [[Baal]] after he failed to stop [[Diablo]] releasing Baal but was eventually freed by the adventurers of [[Diablo II]]. He returned to the adventurers in the [[Pandemonium Fortress]], the last bastion before [[Hell]], to offer some assistance.

When it was clear that Baal had permanently corrupted the [[World Stone]], Tyrael decided that the only thing he could do to protect Sanctuary was to destroy it. The destruction left [[Mount Arreat]] as nothing more than a crater, and dealt a devastating blow to the [[Barbarian]] tribes, who saw it as their life duty to protect the World Stone.

Tyrael has been missing for the last 20 years, and nobody has heard anything about him.

Is it known that that is Diablo that showed up in the cinematic? It's just I don't remember hearing anything one way or the other from blizzard I do however remember hearing something in one of the vid clips from BlizzCon about how they were trying to tie in this game more to the books, trying to tie things together better, and for those who have read the Sin War Trilogy two of your major characters, Lucion and Lillith were the children of Mephisto, so maybe we are looking at Diablo's chip off the old block. Just a theory.

: That's very interesting. I have seen a lot of discussion behind this. I think that there is no official info out there, as far as I know anyway, but that we mostly just assume it's Diablo. They say it isn't a given fact Diablo will even be in the game, but in reality they kind of have to... That dude is so cool, he has to be Diablo ;) Even if the design is slightly different. For now I think we should count on that.

: Ok works for me I see your point, I mean on one hand we've already killed Diablo and then had him come back so it's definitely not out of the question. I however am hoping for something a little different, I'm not saying I won't play if the point is to get to the end and kill Diablo again but I would like to see a change of pace, and maybe a new end of game boss as a way of expanding the game to center around Sanctuary rather then the Lord of Terror. --[[User:Wisdomseeker|Wisdomseeker]] 16:19, 3 November 2008 (CET)
