The new Skill Rune system of Diablo 3 will be vastly different than the Diablo 2 runes, as they will no longer be socketed into items, but instead infused into skills directly, and have a much greater gameplay effect.During BlizzCon 2008, it was possibly to try out these skill runes in action, but only with the newly announced Wizard class. Players could add a rune to a Wizard spell and create new effects such as hitting more targets or causing damage in a greater area.
