The Idol of Rygnar was an escort quest seen in the 2009 Blizzcon demo.

Retrieve the Idol[edit | edit source]

This quest was given by Poltarh, and NPC found standing out in the desert near a swirling waypoint-like vortex. In the conversation, Poltarh explained that he'd been hunting for a special idol for years, and that he'd found it, but that there were too many monsters in the way for him to reach it. He wanted your character to escort him through the Lost Ruins, a desert tomb, and said he would reward you for doing so.

Once a character accepted this quest Poltarh would follow you through a swirling vortex down into the tomb, and then stay right on your heels as you worked your way through the dungeon. He does not fight any of the monsters or assist in the battle, and is not targeted by the monsters either.

The dungeon is not very large, and once you find the idol on a small altar at the far end of the dungeon, Poltahr asks you to help him get it back to town. That's not actually necessary, and as soon as you both pass back through the portal to the surface of the desert, he grants the quest reward and vanishes.

Quest Reward[edit | edit source]
