The Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye is a closely organised order of women sometimes referred to as rogues and are highly skilled archers. They make their homes within the provinces of Entsteig, and are known for guarding the pass between the Western Kingdoms and the East, and the Aranoch desert from their monastery there.

Background[edit | edit source]
The sisterhood is shrouded in mystery amongst the local people, and not very much is known about the organisation. It's known the Order was started some hundred years ago with the help of the Horadrim, who pledged the Sisters to guard the pass from Khanduras (and Tristram) to the East. They upheld this pledge until about 20 years ago, when their monastery was invaded by demons, and many Sisters corrupted by Andariel.
The Sisters employ a religious/military structure and is at least to some extent interested in gathering monetary riches, although this might be the goal of individual sisters rather than the Sisterhood itself.
Known only as wandering Rogues in the West, the Sisters conceal their secret affiliation by posing as simple travellers. Many pompous fools have made the mistake of underestimating these steel nerved women in combat and paid a terrible price for their vanity.
The sisters are not only located in the West, as there are sisters as far away as the "Eastern dunes" (Aranoch?) [1]
The Great Eye[edit | edit source]
The religious (and as it seems: the primary) side of the sisterhood is led by a High Priestess (Akara in Diablo II), and presumably lower ranked priestesses, that worship the Great Eye, of which the organisation most likely is named. This religion, which likely part of Eastern philosophies, helps the archers to develop an "inner-sight" and the Rogues have built a massive monastery presumably in its honour.
This innate sixth sense that all sisters seem to possess allows them to send a stream of arrows at an opponent, each fired with a seemingly careless precision. It also allows them to sense trapped fixtures, and aids them in attempts to disarm these traps as well.
Sisters following the Great Eye also have moderate magic skills, allowing them to learn and use magical spells, even though it's nowhere near that of the Vizjerei sorcerers.
Military[edit | edit source]
The actual power within the sisterhood comes from the military branch, which has a Commander (Kashya in Diablo II), dedicated scouts and presumably regular archer warriors. Friends of the sisterhood, are welcome to hire sisters as mercenaries for just causes.
The marksmanship of the sisters is rivalled only by the Amazon archers, and the bows they create from the pine, spruce, yew and ash grown in the Western Kingdom's nutrient laden soil are renowned throughout Sanctuary.
While the Amazon warriors split their combat skills over many different tactics and weapons, the sisters primarily use their marksman skills with a bow and arrow. It's not known which culture is more skilled in archery, but the Rogues do envy certain skills of the Amazons, especially the gifts they receive from their pantheon of gods serving Order.
History[edit | edit source]
The strange events taking place in Tristram 20 years ago caught the attention of many sisters, who travelled long and far to test their skills against the dark evil that was said to be lurking in Tristram. The promise of untold riches waiting to be discovered among the ruins of the ancient cathedral was also a motivating factor.
After the events in Tristram, the demon Andariel invaded the ancient home of the sisterhood, and corrupted or killed many of the sisters. From the Sisterhood, the strongest warriors chose to follow. The remaining rogues set up a Rogue Encampment that was used by a group of heroes to launch an attack against the demon lady and retaking the monastery.
The close friend of Commander Kashya was part of the expeditions to Tristram, and returned a changed woman. She was corrupted by the demonic forces found in the labyrinth and became known as [2], turning against her sisters.
