The N'ghaalii are a race of monsters created by Diablo when a group of Paladins challenge him to attack their island stronghold. The Paladins placed strong angelic magic around their island to prevent demons and undead from stepping foot on the Island. To destroy the hubristic paladins, Diablo breed a race of fishy predators to invade the island. The N'ghaalii slaughtered the Paladins through a combined use of claws, jaws, electric shock, and a most deadly variation on corpse explosion. When N'ghaalii are killed, chemicals in their tissue become volatile and explode in 3 seconds, causing the spines and scales to fly out like fishy sharpnel. A poisonous vapor lingers in the air for a few seconds after a N'ghaalii explodes. The N'ghaalii also has a electrical touch but it is the corpse explosion that is most deadly.
