Main Stat refers to a class' main stat or attribute that boosts their damage in Diablo 3. Bonuses to this stat greatly increase a character's damage, as they are amplified by other properties including skill damage, critical hit damage, critical hit chance, and more.
Main stats in Diablo III are:
- Dexterity: Monk and Demon Hunter.
- Intelligence: Wizard and Witch Doctor.
- Strength: Barbarian.
These attributes also boost other functions: Dexterity increases Dodge chance, Intelligence boosts all resistances, and Strength boosts Armor. As a result, Monks and Demon Hunters tend to have the highest Dodge, Barbarians tend to have the highest Armor, and Wizards and Witch Doctors tend to have high resistances without specially targeting them via equipment bonuses.
These attributes add other boosts as well; see their respective wiki articles for full details.
