Itherael is one of the five ruling members of the Angiris Council that governs the High Heavens and the Heavenly Host. He is the Archangel of Fate. Little is known regarding this mysterious angel and what future role he may play in shaping the world of Sanctuary, Heaven, or the Burning Hells.
Background[edit | edit source]
Itherael is the great lorekeeper of the High Heavens. He does not possess the ability to see the future outright, but is able to see various possibilities and scenarios that could play out as the consequence of given actions. Itherael is a being with vast knowledge, but is not particularly vocal and rarely speaks. Interestingly, however, he cannot see the strands of fate that influence the destinies of mortals. Consequently, the mortals of Sanctuary vex him and his fellow archangels.[1]
Stance regarding Sanctuary[edit | edit source]
At the end of the Sin War, after Uldyssian defeated Angel Inarius and sacrificed to save Sanctuary, the Angiris Council voted to decide the fate of Angel Inarius and his creation: Sanctuary.
Archangel Itherael seconded Archangel Imperius's petition to call for a vote to decide Sanctuary's fate. However, Itherael voted in favor of Sanctuary:
- "THEY ARE THE GET OF ANGELS AND DEMONS, WITH THE TAINT AND PROMISE INHERENT ... LEFT TO GROW, THEY MIGHT BECOME MORE MONSTROUS THAN ANYTHING RISING FROM THE BURNING HELLS.
- BUT THEY ALSO HAVE THE GREATEST POTENTIAL TO SERVE THE LIGHT ... A POTENTIAL THAT COULD SURPASS OUR OWN ROLES ... AND SO I VOTE THAT THEY BE GIVEN THEIR CHANCE."[2]
Artifacts[edit | edit source]
Each of the archangels seem to possess relics which are related to the idea/concept that they embody.
In concept art, Itherael is depicted with something that appears to be an ensorcelled scroll or vessel of some kind. The properties, powers, or true identity of this item are as yet unknown.
