Torment-only refers to game features and items that are only available on the Torment 1-6 difficulty levels. Most things in Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls scale up with difficulty and thus grow more rewarding on Torment, but "Torment-only" refers to items and systems that do not exist at all on lower difficulties.

Torment Required[edit | edit source]

Torment 1 and higher enables the following:

  • Diablo 3 Class Item Sets can only drop on Torment 1 and higher, at level 60 and higher.
  • New level 70 legendary and set items in Reaper of Souls only drop on Torment 1 and higher.
  • Legendary item drop rates get a special boost in Nephalem Rifts on Torment 1 and higher.
  • The Infernal Machine only exists on Torment 1 and higher. The keys and organs do not drop below Torment, and the Hermit's Shack can not be entered below Torment.
  • Imperial gems may drop instead of Marquise gems on Master and higher.

Patch 2.0.5 T2-T6 Buffs[edit | edit source]

Patch 2.0.5 increased the drop rates for T2-T6 (but not Torment 1) to provide a better rewards (and incentive) to players who move up into the higher difficulty levels.

  • Horadric Caches
    • Now have an increased chance to drop Legendary items on Torment II – VI
  • Kadala (Gambling)
    • Can now drop Torment-only Legendary items
    • Will now always give you weapon types that your character can equip with an emphasis on class specific weapon types
  • Nephalem Rifts
    • Increased the number of Blood Shards that can drop from Horadric Caches
    • The number of Blood Shards dropped by Rift Guardians on Torment II – VI now increases with each level of difficulty

Torment Only Legendaries[edit | edit source]

The full list of Reaper of Souls Torment-only items was revealed in February 2014.[1] This list was added to a few weeks later when all of the Diablo 3 class-themed sets were also tagged as Torment-only. That applied to their drops in D3v2 or RoS, and made them the only Torment-only items in Diablo 3.

Diablo 3 Class-Restricted Item Sets[edit | edit source]

These sets are not fully class-restricted and all have some items that can be used by any class. The partial set bonuses are also sometimes useful for other classes, though the full sets can only be equipped by the class they are designed for.

  • In Diablo 3: These are all level 60 and can only be found in Torment 1 and higher.
  • In Reaper of Souls: These are all level 61 and can only be found in Torment 1 and higher.

Immortal King's Call -- Barbarian set

Inna's Mantra -- Monk set

Natalya's Vengeance -- Demon Hunter set

Tal Rasha's Elements -- Wizard set

Zunimassa's Haunt -- Witch Doctor set

Reaper of Souls Class Restricted Item Sets[edit | edit source]

These sets are not fully class-restricted and most (or all) of the items in each can be equipped by other classes. The partial set bonuses favor their designed class above the others.

Armor of Akkhan -- Crusader Set

Embodiment of the Marauder -- Demon Hunter Set

Firebird’s Finery -- Wizard set

Helltooth Harness -- Witch Doctor Set

Raiment of a Thousand Storms -- Monk Set

The Legacy of Raekor -- Barbarian set

Reaper of Souls Theme Sets[edit | edit source]

These sets do not contain class-restricted items and can be equipped by any class. The items are often themed more for one class than others, and have partial set bonuses that are best for one or two classes.

Monkey King’s Garb

Vyr’s Amazing Arcana

Thorns of the Invoker

The Shadow’s Mantle -- Demon Hunter set bonuses

Might of the Earth

Raiment of the Jade Harvester -- Witch Doctor set bonuses

Bastions of Will

Istavan’s Paired Blades

Legendary Follower Items[edit | edit source]

Legendary Follower Items drop only on Torment and have the normal 5 random affixes, plus one of two bonus legendary properties; all skills or immortality for the follower.

The "cannot die" property means that the follower takes zero damage from attacks. This was extremely powerful early in Reaper of Souls, when paired with damage sharing items like Unity. (The character *and* follower had to both equip a Unity for this to work.)

Legendary Health Potions[edit | edit source]

Legendary Health Potions drop only in Torment. Each grants the same benefit (60% HPs instantly restored) as a normal health potion, plus a bonus property for 5 seconds. All potions are "bottomless" and can be used an infinite number of times.
