Devastator is a crafted legendary mace that can only be created in Reaper of Souls. After Patch 2.0.6 this item no longer requires a Shattered Core or any other legendary materials to craft.
To create this item, find the Plan: Devastator, which can be randomly dropped randomly by any level 70 target, and teach the plan to the Blacksmith. Once learned by the smith, any character on your account can make as many of these as you can afford to create.
Devastator properties[edit | edit source]
This legendary one-handed mace has a very powerful bonus of +15-20% damage to Fire Skills, which makes it one of the most popular one-handed melee weapons in the game, crafted or found. It's had to roll or enchant a top quality one, since the +Fire Skills damage property counts as primary affix, along with the Fire Damage, which leaves only two open primary affixes, where virtually every player wants +mainstat and a socket.

Crafting[edit | edit source]
Once a player finds the randomly-dropped plan and teaches it to the Blacksmith, the item can be created by any character on that account. This item always has a lvl 70 requirement, no matter what level character crafts it. The Smart Loot system means that this item will usually roll with a mainstat and/or +skill damage bonus appropriate to the class of the character that creates it.
Crafting Costs:
- 64,800 Gold
- 40 Reusable Parts
- 38 Arcane Dust
- 30 Veiled Crystal
- 4 Deaths Breath
- 2 Forgotten Soul
Patch 2.0.6 controversially[1] removed Legendary Materials, which changed the crafting costs for every level 70 RoS recipe. Prior to that patch Devastator required 1 Shattered Core and 0 Death's Breath.
Item Examples[edit | edit source]
Several examples of this item can be seen below. View more samples of the Devastator via DiabloNut's armory.
Legendary Material[edit | edit source]
Legendary Materials were controversially[2] removed in Patch 2.0.6. The following is archived for posterity.
The required legendary material, Shattered Core, is dropped only by Unique (purple) Sand Dwellers. These are the huge, rock-skinned golem creatures that wait below the surface and emerge only when a player draws near. They are found exclusively in the desert and desert tombs of Act Two, and are not common bounties, making this a fairly slow material to farm.
