Manitou
Manitou is a rune effect in Spirit Barrage, a Spirit Realm Witch Doctor skill.
This rune effect summons an odd-looking ghostly specter that hovers over the Witch Doctor for 20 seconds, lobbing spirit bolts at enemies for 28% weapon damage.
Casting this spell multiple times will only refresh its duration.
The spell is short-range and multi-directional.
This spell is useful for kiting enemies, and for dealing additional damage if the Witch Doctor prefers close range abilities such as Firebats.

Trivia
Another interesting rune effect name, this one refers to a spirit being or state in Native American mythology. A quote from the wikipedia article:[1]
- Manitou is a term used to designate spirit beings among many Algonquian groups of Native Americans. It refers to the concept of one aspect of the interconnection and balance of nature/life, similar to the East Asian concept of qi or the Hindu concept of Brahman;[citation needed] in simpler terms it can refer to a spirit (compare to the Japanese concept of kami). This spirit is seen as a (contactable) person as well as a concept. Everything has its own manitou—every plant, every stone, even machines.[citation needed]
